Stock Market Weekly update -Oct12

October 12, 2025

October volatility started on Friday with a massive selloff, both in stocks and in crypto. The NASDAQ briefly touched an all time high on Friday morning then dumped, along with the rest of the market. The semis (SMH) dumped after banging against the same top level every day last week!

Gold closed at another all time high after rallying for an 8th week. Long term rates dipped and have been in a downtrend since May. Oil has also been in a downtrend.

Crypto ‘Altcoins’ saw massive volatility on Friday after markets closed, with traders experiencing over $19 billion in liquidations (from leveraged positions), the biggest liquidation in history, many times bigger than past liquidations!

What drives the markets next week? Possibly more volatility from China tariff issues. Earnings kickoff with some of the big banks, and CPI/PPI reports. Buckle up!
