Stock Market Weekly update -Jan 18

 The S&P 500 was down slightly last week, while the Small-caps (IWM) continued to move higher. MU, ASML, and SNDK powered higher for yet another week, as did the Semiconductor sector and Gold.  AAPL & NFLX continued to drop as we see a rotation in market sectors. The Dollar was up for a 3rd week. Bitcoin/Crypto was up, and 10year Interest rates also moved up a bit.  Markets will be closed on  Monday.

   The market gapped up to new all time highs again last week, but then gave up most of those gains, leaving a ‘weekly’ tail bar on the SPX chart, a possible exhaustion signal (chart below). Stock Market Weekly update -Apr 20

  We saw lots of ‘chop’ last week, ending just below where we started, with tariff uncertainty still hanging over the market. The DOW lagged as it dumped on Thursday after UNH reported earnings. Long term rates pulled back a bit while Gold continued to rocket higher, closing near $3326. This week we get more earnings including GOOGL & TSLA,  04/06:  Hedging against losses… How? If you got ahead of the tariff announcement on Monday Mar 31st using an Inverse ETF like SQQQ (SPXS, SOXS, etc) , it was up approximately 30% that week! Note that Leveraged ETFs should only be used for short term trading. Stock Market Weekly update -Nov 16

The market dropped for a 3rd week, tho it recovered a bit on Friday, just as it did the prior week! The AI bubble could be near exhaustion here. Small-caps again dropped & this time closed below the huge drop we saw on 10/10.  Crypto had another big drop for the week, with BTC dropping below 100k to around 95k. Gold rallied! The government shutdown finally ended last week, the CPI report was cancelled, while new odds of a Fed rate cut in December dropped quite a bit.  This week we get Nvidia's earnings report on Wednesday, along with some of the big Retailers.
