Stock Market Weekly update -Aug 2

 In the SPX we got 9 weeks straight up, followed by 9 weeks of sideways action!  For the past week, the S&P 500 & Nasdaq & the DOW were up a bit, while the Small-caps trended down for a 5th week. and the Semis trended down for a 6th week, and Interest rates trended UP for a 5th week as the Fed left short-term rates unchanged. Very mixed market!  After earnings, MSFT popped while AAPL and META dropped! KO popped to a new all time high.

The week ahead includes much more earnings reports, along with the monthly Jobs report on Friday.

S&P 500 closes higher Friday as Amazon surges; Dow posts fourth straight winning month

DOW -with the exception of March, the DOW has been up every month since April 2025!



Interest rates have been rising since early March

10 year yields jumped again to 4.74%, up from a low of 3.95 in Feb 

30 year yields jumped again to 5.27%, a multi-year high (since 2007)!

The market dropped for a 3rd week, tho it recovered a bit on Friday, just as it did the prior week! The AI bubble could be near exhaustion here. Small-caps again dropped & this time closed below the huge drop we saw on 10/10.  Crypto had another big drop for the week, with BTC dropping below 100k to around 95k. Gold rallied! Stock Market Weekly update -Nov 2

   The market gapped up to new all time highs again last week, but then gave up most of those gains, leaving a ‘weekly’ tail bar on the SPX chart, a possible exhaustion signal (chart below). Small-caps dropped for the week.  AMZN, GOOGL, & CAT popped after earnings, MSFT, META, CMG, & BA dropped. The Fed cut interest rates by .25% as expected.  Gold dropped for a 2nd week.  No Jobs report next week as the government shutdown continues.   Mega Caps Daily chart  -Uptrend -Downtrend Crypto AAPL NVDA TSM GOOGL TSLA AVGO  AMZN? Stock Market Weekly update -Oct 19

  The market tried to recover from the previous Friday’s big drop but has failed so far, except for the Small-caps. which had a massive rally, but then pulled back down on fears coming from the regional banking sector.  The big Banks reported good earnings but the XLF financial sector ETF dropped for a 3rd week (regional bank concerns). AMD hit another all time high. RGTI quantum stock popped then dropped for the week, leaving a long ‘topping tail’ on the weekly chart. Gold closed at another all time high after rallying for a 9th week, tho we saw a pullback on Friday -could be topping out in this area. Crypto fell for a 2nd week. Oil has been in  a downtrend, and fell some more last week.  Long term Interest rates pulled back again, and have been in a downtrend since May.    The VIX popped, then dropped on Friday!
