Stock Market Weekly update -Aug 9

 We got a huge rally last week with all the Indexes hitting all time highs, except for the Nasdaq! The Small-caps took out 5 weeks of downside action in one week. Most of the gains happened on Monday & Tuesday, after ‘good news’ on the Iran war. However great earnings continue to flow in as well. Semiconductors rallied too, but still have to overcome weeks of downside action.  Gold also had a huge rally.  The market rallied on Friday despite disappointing jobs numbers (negative 23,000 vs +80,000 expected!), while May and June numbers were also revised down, and Labor Force Participation dropped!

 After earnings, PLTR, SPCX, SHOP, ABNB, popped while WDC, DDOG, APP, TTD, CVS, PZZA dropped!

The week ahead includes more earnings reports, along with the CPI & PPI.  

S&P 500 rises to record close Friday and posts strongest week since April

U.S. economy unexpectedly lost 23,000 jobs in July


The S&P500 finally broke out from the 9 week sideways range!



Great Q2 earnings pushing markets higher.

The market dropped for a 3rd week, tho it recovered a bit on Friday, just as it did the prior week! The AI bubble could be near exhaustion here. Stock Market Weekly update -Nov 2

   The market gapped up to new all time highs again last week, but then gave up most of those gains, leaving a ‘weekly’ tail bar on the SPX chart, a possible exhaustion signal (chart below). Small-caps dropped for the week.  AMZN, GOOGL, & CAT popped after earnings, MSFT, META, CMG, & BA dropped. Stock Market Weekly update -Aug 24

  Another week, another weekly all time high for the SPX (barely), closing around 6466 after getting a big pop from the Fed speech at Jackson Hole on Friday. The DOW popped to a new all time high as well! Small-caps had the biggest pop but are still under the all time high. HD & LOW rallied for a 3rd week, as did the homebuilders(XHB).  Interestingly, the Nasdaq100 actually dropped last week! PLTR dropped 10% for the week. CRCL dropped for a 5th week. The Dollar dropped a bit on lower interest rate expectations.. The VIX dropped to a pretty low level as the market popped on Friday..   The week ahead:    PCE report Earnings  NVDA!
